The Integrating Gender in Medical Education project aims to train and sensitize medical educators from Maharashtra in order to incorporate a gender perspective in medical teaching and practice. This project works with 7 medical colleges in the state Details of the Participant medical colleges . from the following five departments: Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Preventive and Social Medicine, General Medicine, Psychiatry and Forensic Medicine. The first training of this project was held in February 2014 and is to be followed up with the second phase of training in early 2015. This two days intensive short course is being held in order to induct new participants in order to make up for vacancies in the project before the next training.
Specific objectives of the workshop are: • To build perspective on linkages between gender and health with focus on health care sector response to sexual and domestic violence, access to abortion and prevention of sex selection • To develop gender sensitive teaching modules for the undergraduate medical curriculum in Maharashtra and build strategies for delivering the output in classroom teaching
