Dr. Praveen R. Singh's presentation on ‘Integrating Gender in Medical Education’ - 25th January 2025

On January 25, 2025, during the Medical Education Unit (MEU) India's Dr. Rita Sood Memorial Oration, Dr. Praveen R. Singh delivered an impactful presentation on "Integrating Gender in Medical Education." A member of the National Medical Commission (NMC), Dr. Singh attended a three-day training on gender integration in medical education organized by CEHAT, which laid the foundation for his insights.

Dr. Singh underscored the significance of embedding gender-sensitive perspectives in medical curricula, aligning with the Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) reforms recently introduced in India. His focus on integrating gender aligns with the NMC's efforts to modernize medical education, especially under the Attitude, Ethics, and Communication (AETCOM) module.

The oration gained prominence as it was attended by senior faculty members from across the country, signaling widespread recognition of the need for equitable healthcare. By addressing gender disparities in health and advocating for faculty training, innovative case studies, and enhanced assessment methods, Dr. Singh emphasized the responsibility of medical educators to prepare future physicians for compassionate and equitable patient care.

His presentation was both a call to action and a testament to the growing awareness within the medical education community about the need for gender-sensitive teaching.
