Advocacy and Research For Effective Management of Sexual Assault (2004 Onwards)

The Sexual Assault Care and Forensic Evidence or SAFE Kit was first prepared in the late nineties when trustees and researchers in CEHAT involved in the investigation of a case of sexual assault, found gross inadequacy regarding eliciting history, medical examination and collection of forensic evidence. The investigation highlighted the need for a uniform, standardized and meticulous protocol accompanied by guidelines and a training manual to care for and document evidence in such cases.

The SAFE kit is a scientifically sound and user friendly, ‘Model Kit for Comprehensive Care and Documentation of Evidence in cases of Sexual Assault’ made with inputs from several Indian experts and studying kits used internationally.
