Of late, numerous incidents of attacks on resident doctors have made the headlines. In Maharashtra, CEHAT undertook a systematic study of violence faced by resident doctors in Maharashtra who form the backbone of the public health system. These attacks were perpetrated mainly by caregivers of the patient, adversely impacting the physical and psychological health of doctors and their right to a safe workplace. So in 2018, CEHAT in collaboration with KEM hospital and the Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD), carried out a study to explore resident doctors’ perceptions of violence.
