The study was conducted across 261 private hospitals from 10 districts of the state, Nashik, Nandurbar, Pune, Satara, Thane, Ratnagiri, Osmanabad, Aurangabad, Amravati and Gadchiroli. Greater Mumbai was included for its unique features of complete urbanization, rapid expansion of the private medical sector, the huge population base with a high standard of living and very high real estate prices.
