This chapter is published In Psychosocial Interventions for Social Issues in Contemporary India, by U. Vindhya (Ed.), Springer, pp. 61-83.
The chapter draws on the efforts by CEHAT, to conceptualize Domestic violence as a public health issue, to develop a feminist counselling model in the setting of a public hospital-based crisis centre to respond to DV, and to provide evidence on the impact of such counselling on women’s lives and well-being and their perception of such services. It also presents a recent initiative led by CEHAT in collaboration with different NGOs across the country to develop outcome indicators for defining outcomes of feminist psychosocial interventions in the arena of DV.
