CEHAT conducts a one-day workshop for hospital-based healthcare providers on identifying and addressing cases of domestic violence. Women in the reproductive age group often access health services for themselves and for their children. Thich offers an unique opportunity for early-identification of violence. The workshop starts with an orientation to Dilaasa, a hospital-based crisis centre, which is created to provide immediate support and councelling to women and children facing domestic and sexual violence. The HCPs are informed about the pivotal role of HCPs in responding to violence, the support services provided by Dilaasa and referring cases to Dilaasa, the types of violence women face, the health consequences of violence and identifying signs and symptoms of violence, sensitively questioning survivors and medico-legal documentation.
